1. Who we are

ThaparMatch is a dating app exclusively for students of Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala. We are committed to protecting your privacy under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

2. Data we collect

• Your Thapar email address (for verification)
• Profile information: name, date of birth, year, branch, hostel, gender, photos
• Selfie photo (used only for identity verification by our team)
• Prompt answers and interest tags you provide
• Likes, passes, matches, and messages within the app

3. How we use your data

• To verify your identity as a Thapar student
• To show your profile to other approved users based on preferences
• To enable matching and chat features
• To review reports and ensure platform safety

We do not sell your data to third parties.

4. Data sharing

Your profile is visible only to other approved ThaparMatch users. Your selfie is only accessible to the admin for identity verification. We use Supabase (hosted in Singapore) for data storage.

5. Your rights (DPDP Act 2023)

• Right to access: You can view all your data in the app.
• Right to correction: Contact us to correct any inaccurate data.
• Right to erasure: Delete your account from Settings → Delete account. This immediately and permanently removes all your data.
• Right to withdraw consent: You can delete your account at any time.

6. Data retention

Your data is retained as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, all data is permanently removed within 24 hours. Selfie photos are deleted immediately upon account deletion.

7. Security

All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Selfie photos are stored in a private bucket inaccessible to other users. We use row-level security to ensure you can only access your own data.
